Frequently Asked Questions
-
Our grant was approved. Can we apply again in the future?Yes. Our general rule of thumb is to support Organizations once within a twelve-month time period. We understand that needs arise, and we are therefore willing to review an application, even within a twelve-month period.
-
What is the deadline for submission of an application?Applications are due by the last day of the month prior to quarterly meetings; now scheduled for May, August, November and February.
-
Our grant was not approved. Can we reapply?Yes. We are a small Foundation with limited funds. If we are not able to approve an application due to limited funds you will be notified in writing and may reapply for the next quarterly meeting. If we are not able to approve an application due to what the Board deems an unsuitable project, you will be notified in writing and may reapply for a different project.

Our Non-profit organization is not within Cortland County. Can we still apply?Yes. The Wilkins Foundation considers applications from Cortland and abutting counties.
-
What type of initiatives does the Wilkins Foundation fund? The Wilkins Foundation provides monetary support toward, but not limited to, educational, religious, literary, cultural organizations and the care of those less fortunate.

What areas does the Wilkins Foundation not support? The Foundation does not approve grants to fund salaries/wages, individuals’ needs, fundraising events and organizations beyond Cortland and abutting Counties. The more people the grant will benefit, the more likely we are to assist you.
-
How much can we apply for?Our grants tend to be within $500 to $3000. You can request more, or less. The Board will give funds based on what is available to us at the time.
